Vivek Agnihotri takes a dig on Aparna Sen for selecting a 'copy' film as Oscar entry

Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy which was India's official entry to Oscars has failed to make the cut in the final nominations of Academy Awards. While the news disappointed many, some felt this was quite obvious. Director Vivek Agnihotri thinks likewise. The Tashkent Files director thinks the film was not selected because it is a copy of a Hollywood venture. He shared an article that claims Gully Boy is inspired by American film 8 Mile, which is the main reason that the movie is out of the race. Agnihotri also took a dig on Aparna Sen, who headed the jury for the selection of the Oscar entry saying, "This embarrassment happened because...Godmother Aparna Sen chose a copy over original films."
