The Gollapudi Best Debut Director To Be Shared By Two Filmmakers

The Gollapudi Srinivas National Award was instituted in 1998, in memory of a young filmmaker who died in an accident in 1992, during the shoot of his first feature. The award is presented to a director who makes his debut the previous year. This year, the 23rd edition of this prize will be shared by two debutants thus creating a tie for the first time. This year's winners are Madhu C Narayanan for Mollywood film Kumbalangi Nights and Aditya Dhar for Bollywood film Uri-The Surgical Strike. Some of the popular recipients of this award are Shyama Prasad (Agnisakshi), Konkana Sen (A Death in the Gunj), Prem Kumar (96), Aamir Khan (Taare Zameen Par).
