Thalapathy Vijay wins a prestigious international award for Mersal

The late 2017 film Mersal has been a phenomenal success for Thalapathy Vijay. Despite facing problems with the release of the film due to controversies about a few dialogues on GST and demonetization, once released, Mersal and its Telugu dubbed version Adirindhi scored big at the box office and is recorded as one of the highest grossing South Indian films of all time. Now, adding another feather to his cap in an already illustrious career, Thalapathi won the prestigious Best International Actor Award for Mersal by International Achievement Recognitions Awards (IARA). In the process, he beat other nominees such as Star Wars actor John Boyega, David Tennant, Chris Attoh, Zack Morris etc.
