The biopic of the Maratha and Indian political stalwart Balasaheb Thackeray started a bit slow and received a mixed critical response. But the film took off to a great opening weekend at the box office. The Marathi version is doing an exceptional business while the Hindi version set the Maharashtra box office on fire. The first weekend, the movie grossed a grand total of Rs. 45 Cr. The total distributor share the film collected stands at Rs. 23 Cr. in India itself. After grossing about Rs. 6 crores on Friday (first day), the film went on and on with improved performance over the next two days of the weekend including the Republic Day with a share of Rs. 10 Cr. on Saturday and Rs. 6.90 Cr. on Sunday.
