Karan Johar's ambitious project Takht which was supposed to be a period drama made on a grand scale got shelved. KJO had signed top Bollywood stars Kareena Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, and Bhumi Pednekar for the historical piece revolving around the power games that took place inside the Mughal court. However, the star producer has decided to put the film on the backburner for time being. The industry insiders assume that Rs. 250-300 crores budget is a reason for Johar's decision. Also, after the controversy regarding Padmavat, Karan found it will be a risky project to start. He felt the current political climate is volatile for a film based on Mughal history.
