Veteran Bengali actress Swatilekha Sengupta passed away at the age of 71. The acclaimed film and theatre actress was suffering from renal complications. She was admitted to a private hospital for the last 24 days. She breathed her last around 3 pm. Swatilekha Sengupta is remembered for her performance as the leading lady Bimala in Satyajit Ray's directorial Ghare Baire based on Rabindranath Tagore's eponymous novel. She also appeared as the female lead opposite Soumitra Chatterjee in the 2015 blockbuster Bela Seshe. She was survived by her husband Rudraprasad Sengupta and daughter Sohini.
