Maoist Ambush in Chhattisgarh Triggers Trouble For 2 Telugu Releases

The recent Maoist ambush in Chhattisgarh that killed 22 CRPF Jawans has triggered trouble for two upcoming Telugu releases - Virata Parvam and Acharya. Both the films are set in Maoist backdrop and portray their leads as Maoists. According to the reports, Hyderabad-based organization Anti Terrorism Forum took a decision to fight against films that show Maoists as heroes and met Censor Board asking to not issue Censor clearance for movies that highlight Maoist and Naxalist ideologies. While Virata Parvam is based on the Naxal movement in the 90s, Acharya is the story of a Maoist turned social reformer. As both the films are releasing in the next couple of weeks, we need to see what the Censor board decides.
