Nawab, the latest offering from the stable of class director Mani Ratnam, has hit the bull's eye at the US box office. Released to generally positive reviews, the official Telugu dubbed version of Chekka Chivantha Vaanam grossed more than Rs. 1.2 crores ($167,228) on its first day of release, i. e., on Thursday. The gangster drama which tells the story of three brothers and their fight for the throne of their father is hailed as the return to box office form for Mani Ratnam. While 40% of the gross came from the Wednesday night premieres, rest of the amount was from the first-day shows. Arvind Swami, Simbu, Jyothika, Arun Vijay, Aditi Rao Hydari, Aishwarya Rajesh, and Vijay Sethupathi played the lead roles.
