Madison Square Garden celebrates Bangla cinema with grandeur

After nine years Prosenjit Chatterjee attended a 'Banga Sanmelan' at NYC. The response was beyond his expectation. The NABC IBFA Award in Madison Square Garden celebrated Bangla cinema with great energy. Aparajita Adhya received 'Andhakarer Tara' award which is a tribute to Rituporno Ghosh. Jisshu Sengupta who won the best villain award for 'Rajkahini' was amused to receive the unforeseen response from the audience. Same happened with Abir Chatterjee who seems to have a crazy fan following among the women overseas. Abir won the best actor popular choice award for 'Bastu Shaap', while Parambrata bagged the critic choice award for 'Cinemawala'. Paoli Dam was selected for the critic choice best actress award for 'Natoker Moto'. Indrani Haldar won the evergreen actress award for her contribution to Bengali film and TV. A committee led by Saurav Ganguly honored Prosenjit with the 'Visionary Award For The Bangla Cinema'. Last year's biggest blockbuster 'Bela Shese' was awarded with the best film of the year award.
