Jayasurya speaks on his transition from a mimicry artist to a top actor

The versatile actor Jayasurya started off as a mimicry artist and did many comic roles in a leading channel's comedy show. He says that mainstream cinema was his dream and when the opportunity beckoned him, he grabbed it excitingly. He was not bothered of being typecast back then. Then slowly, he began doing films from different genres. Now, he is one of the most sought-after actors to do roles that are off-beat, like that of a transwoman in Njan Marykutty (which earned him a state award) He says that now he is careful in choosing roles and he picks only those that excite him. On the work front, he has a long list of films like Ramarsethu, Vellam, Sathyan biopic, etc.
