Irrfan Khan's death broke the hearts of movie-buffs. Remembering his father, Irrfan's son Babil recalled the most important thing as a student of cinema. Babil wrote Irrfan told him, "Bollywood is seldom respected in world cinema." He recalled there was only a lecture on Indian cinema called ‘Bollywood and Beyond’ and hardly any scope of having a discussion on the real Indian cinema of Satyajit Ray and K.Asif. He added, his father was often defeated by "hunks with six-pack abs delivering theatrical one-liners and defying the laws of physics and reality, photoshopped item songs, just blatant sexism and same-old conventional representations of patriarchy". He said Indian audience failed Indian cinema.
