Hildur Gudnadottir, the composer from Iceland created history at this year's Oscars as she became the first woman musician to win big in the category Best Original Score ever since the Academy combined all of the score categories into one in 2000. Hildur's feat is a recognition for her work in the superhero psychological thriller Joker. In her acceptance speech, she called the women who hear the music bubbling within to speak up and to let the world hear their voices. When women have made a mark in almost all fields, we are surprised that there are very few women music composers. So, the film industry needs many more Hildurs to show the world that women can be world-class music composers too.
