Are films on native heroes losing sheen among other language movie buffs?

Movies about local heroes/historical figures always pique the interest of movie buffs. Being a familiar story, they are always welcomed with open arms in their native language. But how successful are they when released in other languages? We have seen that films like Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy (Telugu) and Kayamkulam Kochunni (Malayalam) have performed extremely well in their native languages. But, other language movie buffs were alien to these regional super-heroes and these films failed to hit the bull's eye. Perhaps, makers can chart out marketing strategies to kindle interest among other language movie lovers. Even Bollywood films like Kesari, made on heroes from North, failed to impress in South.
