Some of the recent thrillers missed the perfection just by a small difference. In serial killer thrillers and murder mysteries especially, our directors are missing a key point. They have the choice to make the murderers unapologetic for their behavior. But because of Indian audiences’ sensibilities, they try to give a backstory and reasoning for the killers’ behavior. This has to be in sync with the whole movie - like Ravi Babu’s film Anasuya. If it is not that way, the audience will forget how well the film was made till that point. It happened with Vishwaksen’s HIT and Keerthy Suresh’s Penguin which had a similar point to that of HIT. Check out 9 such thrillers that were let down by poor backstories.
