Zero is the story of Bauua, a 38-year-old man from Meerut, and his search for the elusive soulmate. Though Bauua is short in stature, i. e. vertically challenged, he is big in spirit and has the confidence bordering on arrogance. He uses various matrimony sites to find a suitable bride for him with no avail for obvious reasons. He lives with his parents and roams around with his friend Guddu Singh.
Bauua one fine morning comes across Aafia Yusufzai Bhinder, a ravishing international level research scientist working in NSAR. But he is disappointed when he finds that she has cerebral palsy and is wheelchair bound. But anyway, thinking both of them are at the same level in this way, he slowly gets nearer to her. A few months pass in this way. Suddenly, he leaves her and goes to his town. Aafia searches for him and meets his parents who arrange their wedding. But before the wedding, he is alerted of a dance competition where the winner will have a chance to meet the star heroine Babita Kumari, his favorite heroine.
Bauua gets into a spat with Aafia and leaves the wedding and goes to the competition where he wins and meets Babita. Babita gives him a job for skills in reading the minds of people around him. As time passes by, he feels guilty of leaving Aafia and wants to reconcile with her. In the meantime, Babita kicks him out when he deliberately creates a scene in a party hosted by her. If Aafia welcomes him or how he finally finds his soulmate form the rest of the story.
Zero received mixed reviews from the critics and ended up underperforming at the box office. But the performances especially those of Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif are well-received.
