Ye Manthram Vesave Review & Rating
Ye Mantram Vesave director Sridhar Marri says he is an Independent filmmaker. He doesn't want to work for studios. He stressed his independence with great confidence. It is known that Sridhar Marri had traveled more than five years with this film. He was confident that this film which is based on gaming addiction can prove to be a different film and find him a place in Tollywood.
After Arjun Reddy, Vijaya Devarakonda's stardom grew exponentially, and the followups he does are keenly followed by the audience and fans alike. Such was the craze he generated that a film done about five years ago is brought out of the shelf and presented to the audience by the makers. Well, is it going to work? Is this movie going to score a success as the producers expected? Is it going to be another success in the career of Vijay Devarakonda and boost his stardom? Answers to all these questions can be found in Ye Mantram Vesave review.
The story of this film revolves around Nikhil aka Nikki played by Vijay Devarakonda and Ragamalike aka Rags played by Shivani Singh. Nikki is an avid gamer who loves to dwell in the virtual world of the games. His parents lost hope and left him to his ways. He plays games, hang out with his good for nothing friends, and enter chat rooms (in what age the filmmakers are? Of course, this is a film started five years ago), and flirt with girls. One fine morning, he happens to stumble upon Rgs and falls head over heels in love with her. After few unsuccessful approaches, Nikki finally manages to turn her attention towards him. Rag who is a game developer, asks Nikki to find her in the form of a treasure hunt game. Then stars Nikki's challenge and he searches for her. But his search for her is gatecrashed by villains as in every Telugu film. What happens to Nikki's search of Rags, and whether he can fend off the bad guys and finally reach her forms the crux of the story.
Vijay Devarakonda looked very young for obvious reasons. He approached the character sincerely and looked the part of a passionate gamer. But is body language and mannerisms are not as mature as they are now. Nonetheless, he is charming in some scenes. Shivani Singh was lucky to debut with a film where the story is centred on her. She was decent in looks and did well to make the character believable. But she doesn't have the charm to mesmerise the audience. Rest of the cast is not up to the mark. The guys who played as hero's friends tried to generate humour, but failed to entertain the audience.
The story of the film is unique and has infinite potential to become a memorable film. But the direction is amateur. Though Sridhar Marri's intention with the concept is great, he failed to narrate the story in an interesting manner. Lackluster screenplay played spoilsport. It looks like a short film is stretched endlessly. What could have been an intriguing film became a passable venture.
The cinematography is not up to the notch. It looks like even a short film made without resources will be better compared to this film. The lesser you talk about the music the better. Though the director tried to integrate the songs into the story, they didn't gell with the flow. Background score is pretty average. Nothing much to talk about the artwork. Editing could have been better. Production values appear to be meagre. Poor visuals maars the watching experience.
Overall Ye Mantram Vesave is a forgettable flick to Vijay Devarakonda. The way he expressed the film as a backlog is funny but apt. It is a haunting backlog. Amateur direction and bad screenplay are the culprits. None of the departments worked well in any way. Except for Vijay Devarakonda, and to an extent the heroine's performance, there's nothing much to save this film. You can watch it on the TV if you are interested in the novel storyline. And if you are a fan of Vijay and Arjun Reddy, do him a favour by ignoring this film
