The actor-director duo of Salman Khan and Kabir Khan are back with another exciting film 'Tubelight' after giving us films like 'Ek Tha Tiger' and 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' earlier. ‘Tubelight’ is a social drama set in a small town in the hills of northern India amidst the backdrop of the Indo-China war which took place in 1962. The story is all about emotions, faith, and belief which revolve around Laxman Singh Bisht (Salman Khan) who is in search of his brother Bharat Singh Bisht (Sohail Khan) who had joined the Indian army during the insurgency and goes missing in action. Laxman is teased by his fellow villagers and called Tubelight as he is a slow learner and low on confidence. How he embarks upon a journey to find out his brother’s whereabouts and how overcomes his shortfalls and comes across many new revelations forms the crux of the film.

Shot extensively in Ladakh and parts of Himachal Pradesh the film is an adaptation of 2015 English film ‘Little Boy’. Besides Salman Khan and Sohail Khan the film also features Chinese actress Zhu Zhu, child actor Matin Rey Tangu, Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub, Om Puri and Shah Rukh Khan in a cameo. Julius Packiam has scored the background music whereas Pritam has composed the songs. Written and directed by Kabir Khan, the film is jointly produced by Salman Khan and Kabir Khan.
