Tiger Zinda Hai Review & Rating

Tiger Zinda Hai is the much-awaited sequel to the 2012 blockbuster Ek Tha Tiger. Like its prequel, this film features Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles of Tiger, an Indian agent, and Zoya, a Pakistani spy. The film has been produced by Yash Raj Films and directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, who had worked with Salman in Sultan. The film also stars Sajjad Delafrooz, an Iranian actor playing the role of a leader of the biggest terrorist organization in the world.

Tiger Zinda Hai tells the story of 25 Indian nurses and 15 Pakistani nurses taken hostage by this terrorist organization and how Tiger and Zoya have to work together and face the enemy in order to save them. The high octane action sequences and beautiful locations work in favor of the film, and supporting actors like Paresh Rawal and Angad Bedi are good in their respective roles.

After disappointing in the disaster that was Tubelight, Salman Khan returns to his comfort zone and shines bright here. His performance in Tiger Zinda Hai is definitely praiseworthy and fits his personality perfectly. Salman plays the role of Tiger, an Indian spy as the story picks up five years after the events of Ek Tha Tiger. It is made clear from his first scene that his character’s skills have not rusted with time. Katrina Kaif does not just serve as eye candy but performs brilliantly in the well-choreographed action sequences. She plays a very important role and manages to catch up with Salman. Sajjad Delafrooz, who plays the villain, delivers a terrifying performance. His expressions and body language is perfect. Through all this seriousness, Paresh Rawal’s character provides comic relief and his performance will be remembered for a long time. Angad Bedi and Paresh Pahuja give a fine performance while Kumud Mishra shines in his role. Girish Kalnad does an okay job while Anant Vidhaat, who was also in Sultan, gives an incredible performance.

The technical aspects of the film are also its saving grace. Especially the VFX by YFX set a benchmark for all the Hindi films to come in the future. Neelesh Misra and Ali Abbas Zafar, who also wrote Sultan, have managed to write a near-perfect sequel to Ek Tha Tiger, that takes the story forward without seeming forced. Sure, there are moments where patriotism and importance of love and friendship is more than whats needed, but in a film like this, it can be ignored.  Marcin Laskawiec’s cinematography captures the visuals beautifully and takes Bollywood to an international level. Tom Struthers has choreographed the action which is not too high on blood, to suit to the mass audience. Songs by Vishal & Shekhar are woven into the script very well and do not break away from the story at any point. The background score by Julius Packiam is very dramatic and suits the tone of the film.

TZH showcases the power of Salman Khan at the box-office. One can make out in the film that the superstar wanted a big hit to bounce back which he does it in style. It's a Salman Khan film all the way as he takes center stage telling director Ali Abbas Zafar to sit back and watch....reminding me of Dhoni telling the last man at the crease to just stand and watch as i finish the match. I found TZH much better than ETT but still not Sallu's best. Go for it guys...its action galore and need i say...welcome back Salman!!

What to expect?

  • Katrina- Salman Pairing

After giving massive hits together like Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya and Ek Tha Tiger, one of the most successful pairings on the big screen is back with another action entertainer. Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif play the titular roles and this has caused a massive uproar among fans of both the actors and fans of Hindi cinema in general. Salman Khan is one of the biggest actors in the country and the past ten films of his have entered the 100 Crore Club, while Katrina Kaif is one of the most successful female artists in the country with hits like Dhoom 3 and Jab Tak Hai Jaan to her name, so it will be exciting to see what these two bring together in Tiger Zinda Hai.

  • High Octane Action

One of the most thrilling parts of this film is its action sequences that are set in the deserts of Iran, as well as the snow capped mountains of Austria. As seen in the trailer, both the lead actors are playing secret agents and have gone through a lot of training and preparation for the intense action scenes directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. One particular scene even shows the character of Salman Khan fighting against wolves and that is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the thrilling sequences of the film.

  • Sajjad Delafrooz’s acting

Sajjad Delafrooz is an Iranian actor who had previously appeared in Neeraj Pandey’s Baby starring Akshay Kumar. In this film, he plays the main villain, who is the leader of a big terrorist organization who has taken Indian nurses as hostages. Salman Khan has come out and openly praised Sajjad for his performance and has even went on to say that he is the deadliest villain Salman has ever faced in a movie, so a great performance can be expected from this Iranian actor.

  • Vishal & Shekhar’s Super Hit Music

Vishal and Shekhar have given blockbuster music to films like Student of the Year, Chennai Express and Sultan and their music for Tiger Zinda Hai is already a hit among the audiences. The song Swag Se Swagat has also been remade into an Arabic version to connect well with the international audience. An intriguing and chilling background music can also be expected from the duo.
