Mon Jaane Na movie review: Shagufta Rafique’s directorial debut is a bland and non-sensical film
Mon Jaane Na directed by Shagufta Rafique can be addressed as old wine in the new bottle. However, the filmmaker has not tried to hide it from the audience. But, even after much polishing and garnishing, the outcome is a stale and nonsensical venture with nothing significant whatsoever.
Mon Jaane Na story revolves around Amir and Pari. Amir (Yash) is a taxi driver by the morning and a hitman at night. He fell for Pari (Mimi Chakraborty) and they get married. But, soon, Amir's sin catches him up and his nest breaks down.
The movie has taken influences from Taxi-Driver and other foreign movie yet the outcome looks a lot like Bhatt films. Shagufta being a scriptwriter from Bhatt camp, the reason is obvious. Not only the premise looks extremely familiar with its done-to-death storyline, but the film also fell short in the execution. It starts at a slow pace and gets rushed towards the climax.
Just like the bland plot, the acting wasn't much help either. Yash Dasgupta did nothing that he hadn't done yet. He wielded the gun, flexed his muscle, but forgot to put an act in front of the camera. The only one who could be called as the saving grace is Mimi Chakraborty, who tried to bring some sense in the film.
Camera to editing, all the technical stuff is pretty average. The only thing that you may remember is the music by Dabbu.
- Mimi Chakraborty
- The plot
- The execution
The film has nothing new to offer, on top of that, it doesn't even revamp the old concept in a way that it looks entertaining or watchable. Watch it at your own risk.
