Ved is fascinated with stories and is imaginative. He always listens to stories narrated by a roadside story teller. In the present day, Ved and Tara meet during a vacation in Corsica. However, the duo doesn't reveal their true identities to each other but rather pretends to be 'Don' and 'Mona Darling', characters from a Bollywood movie. They explore Corsica in the most fun way possible and talks in film dialogues. Tara falls in love with Ved but decides to leave after having a romantic time with him. The film then flashbacks to Ved asking the storyteller about every story having a sad side to it.
Tara leaves for Delhi and joins hands in her father's tea business. She then meets Ved after 4 years. Excited to spark the left feelings, Tara invites Ved to his life. Tara is shocked upon seeing this new Ved. Ved who is now a business-minded monotonous person who has no excitement left in life and is caught up in his boring professional life. On his birthday, Ved proposes to Tara, to which she refuses saying she fell in love with his different personality and that Ved is now a completely different person. Ved leaves his job and moves back to his hometown. one day he decides to meet the same old street storyteller. How Ved and Tara will meet is an interesting story to watch!
Tamasha received both positive and mixed negative reviews. While critics appreciated the performances of Ranbir and Deepika, they criticised the unsatisfactory togetherness of the plot. Tamasha was an average grosser and was declared a hit at the box office as it earned 116.5 crores after being made on a budget of 64 crores. The movie was nominated in several Awards shows for the story, performances of the lead and the soundtrack.
