Take Off Story

Sameera, a strong-willed nurse from Kerala migrate to Iraq for better pay along with her husband Shaheed. Soon they realize, Iraq is not a peaceful country as projected during the interview time. Increasing conflicts and rising casualties in the city makes it tough for the doctors and nurses. Sameera's knowledge of Arabic comes in handy when dealing with the patients and she leads the nurses' group through their new work environment and challenges.
Sameera gets pregnant. Meanwhile, her ex-husband and her son come to Iraq for vacation. Shaheer offers his assistance to army medical team moving to Mosul to take care of the casualties over there. In a few days, ISIS takes over Mosul and worried, Sameera seeks the help of Indian Embassy in Baghdad. She meets Indian Ambassador Manoj Abraham and he offers to help her.
Sameera comes back to the hospital to realize that the place has been taken over by ISIS and her colleagues are now captives. Sameera gets in touch with Indian Embassy and she sents out updates about the tensed situation in Tikrit to Kerala government. And with the help of Manoj and businessman named Jayamohan, all the nurses manage to make it out of Iraq. Sameera's courage also saves her ex-husband Ibrahim and husband Shaheed.
Take Off is based on the ordeal of Indian nurses in the city of Tikrit, Iraq, in 2014. The film has a second climax scene in which actual footages of nurses reaching Cochin airport and their narration of experience under ISIS shows on the screen. Parvathy who essayed the role of Sameera won numerous accolades for her powerful performance.
