Sanju

Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, Sanju is an Indian biographical drama film made based on the Sanjay Dutt's life. It stars Ranbir Kapoor in the titular role, Paresh Rawal as Sunil Dutt, Manisha Koirala as Nargis Dutt, Dia Mirza as Manyata Dutt, Karishma Tanna as Madhuri Dixit and Sonam Kapoor as Tina Munim. Anushka Sharma will be portraying the character of a lawyer whereas Boman Irani and Tabu will be seen in cameo roles.

Tabu will be seen playing herself and will be presenting an award under the category of Best Actor in a comic role to Ranbir, who plays Dutt in the movie, which she had presented to Sanjay Dutt for the movie Munnabhai MBBS. Vicky Kaushal plays the role of Ranbir's best friend in this movie.

Sanju will take us through three phases of Dutt's life. The first one being the drug addict, the next being love affairs and the third one is Dutt's jail term under TADA (Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act). 

The producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra wanted Ranveer Singh to play Sanjay Dutt's role but director Rajkumar Hirani was adamant of giving the role of Ranbir Kapoor. Hirani revealed that when Sanjay Dutt narrated his life to him, it seemed unbelievable. Ranbir gained weight initially and played the later years of Dutt and then loosed weight to portray the initial years.

According to Ranbir, his mother Neetu Kapoor had a slight issue with the movie script, Hirani agreed to it and it dynamically changed the climax of the movie. Sanjay Dutt refused to attend a special screening of the movie and said that he wants to watch the movie with the audience once the movie releases.
