Srimanthudu Story

Cast: Mahesh Babu as Harshavardhan, Shruti Haasan as Charusheela, Rajendra Prasad as Narayana Rao, Jagapathi Babu as Ravikanth, Mukesh Rishi as Venkata Ratnam, and Sampath Raj as Shashi. 

Harsha Vardhan is the son and legal heir of a self-made multi-millionaire Ravikanth. Their business empire worths 250 Million. Harsha meets Charuseela at his friend's birthday party and falls in love with her. He enrolls in a university course on rural development. Charuseela expresses that she wants to use technology to develop Devarakota, a remote village in Uttarandhra from which she hails.

Slowly Charusheela gets attracted to Harsha. Sashi (Sampath Raj), the brother of central minister Venkata Ratnam exploits the natural resources of Devarakota and because of his tyranny, many locals migrate to cities in search of better opportunities. When Charuseela learns about Harsha being Ravikanth's son she starts avoiding him and tells him that Ravikanth is a native of Devarakota who left for Hyderabad to earn wealth while her father Narayana Rao stayed in the village for the betterment of the people.

Harsha then asks his father for a long holiday before joining the business and travels to Devarakota without telling his father. In Devarakota he meets Narayana Rao, the head of the village and father of Charuseela, and introduces himself as a student pursuing a course in rural development who has come to study the village.

Harsha learns about Sashi's tyranny and decides to adopt and develop Devarakota. During the course of helping the village develop Harsha comes across many obstacles and how he tackles with them is the rest of the story.

Srimanthudu received rave reviews and became one of the biggest hits of all time in Tollywood. Mahesh received high praise for the portrayal of Harsha Vardhan and received numerous awards including  Filmfare Award for Best Actor – Male, IFFA Award for Best Actor Male, and SIIMA Award as the Best Actor. Koratala Siva's direction and concept are praised. Village adopting by celebrities started post the release of Srimanthudu. Srimanthudu was dubbed into Tamil with the title Selvandhan.
