Sangram Bhalerao aka Simmba was a kid when he understood the mechanics of a corrupt life. Though he was born in the same Shivgadh as Bajirao Singham, his lifestyle is a polar opposite to that of the senior police hero. He takes bribes from the local businessmen and the thieves and enjoys the flow of free money by turning a blind eye towards the illegal activities.
He is later transferred to the Miramar Police Station in Goa where he encounters a sincere constable under his team. Nityanand Mohile, the said head constable acts as the conscience of Sangram. Like he did in the past, Sangram goes to a local pub and stops the show there to prove his power and gets into touch with the man behind all the illegal activities in and around his vicinity. He is Durva Yashwant Ranade.
Durva uses Sangram and pays him lofty amounts for the work. One of the tasks involves making a settlement of land that belongs to an old man and gives it to Durva. Meanwhile, Simmba falls for a girl named Shagun. During his activities and roaming in the surrounding areas, Simmba, who is inherently good at heart, strikes friendships with a few local people. One among such friends is Aakriti whom he treats as his own sister.
Aakriti is kidnapped, violated, and later killed by Durva's brothers when she was spying on their illegal activities. This leads to a big conflict between Durva and Simmba. Will Simmba mend his ways and bring justice to Aakriti whom he treats like his family or continue his ways of corruption? How and if this happens form the rest of the story.
Simmba received mixed to positive critical reactions when it was released. But Ranveer Singham's act as a masala hero and the innovative narration by Rohit Shetty clicked with the audience big time and with help of the positive word of mouth, Simmba went on to become one of the biggest hits of all time. Ranveer Singh's performance as Simmba, Rohit Shetty's direction, and Ajay Devgn's cameo as Bajirao Singham are praised by one and all. Simmba grossed about Rs. 400 crore worldwide.
