Seema Raja is an out and out mass entertainer with a few anachronistic settings. The movie can be divided into three chapters. The first chapter introduces us to the world of Seema Raja. Seema Raja is a sort of tribute to the Tamil films of the late 1980s and the 1990s in that a village (Singampatti) is ruled by a good-hearted zamindar, in this case, our hero. But he is carefree, roams in the village with his assistant in the carriage true to his name Raja, pulled by a couple of horses which are treated as royally as they deserve to be. He even has a ferocious dog, Tiger.
Like any youth in such a privileged position, he falls in love with the village belle, Suthanthira Selvi, a Silambam teacher. The village is ruled by his family for generations and is opposed by another faction lead by Keeleeshwari (from Puliyampatti village) in the current generation. Vanity is the right word to describe him.
But when challenged by situations, he is inspired by the life of an ancestor, Seema Raja changes his methods and when the government bill and the greed of a few industrialists threaten the lands of the village people, he vows to be the saviour of people. How he does all this and win the respect of his people and defeat Kaleeshwari gang and unite with Selvi form the rest of the story.
