Sangamitra is an epic drama to be made on a budget of 250 crores by Sri Thenandal Films. The story set in 8th century AD will revolve around the journey of Princess Sangamitra and the efforts she takes to save her kingdom. Shruti Haasan was initially brought on board to play the princess role but was opted out due to various reasons.
The period film that explores India's ancient history stars Jayam Ravi and Arya in important roles. Oscar Award winning music composer AR Rahman has been brought on the board to score the music. Famous writer duo Suresh and Balakrishnan will take care of the script.
Sangamitra directed by Sundar C had its formal launch at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.
