Sanam Teri Kasam Story

The movie starts with everybody congratulating lawyer Inder Lal Parihaar on winning a case. Inder then goes home, takes a liquor bottle and stands in front of cherry blossom tree in the backyard of his house. The film then leads to a series of flashbacks from his past. Saraswati Parthasaarthy a.k.a Saru is a young librarian. Because of her traditional looks, everyone thinks she is ugly, thus her family have a hard time finding a suitable boy for her. One day Saru and her father Jayram runs into Inder, their neighbour in an obscene act with his girlfriend Ruby Malhotra. While Jayram is enraged to witness this, Inder is starstruck by Saru's beauty and simplicity. 

Inder visits the library many times to read books. Determined to get a makeover, Saru seeks the help of Inder as his girlfriend Ruby is a renowned stylist. This leads to a confusion and Ruby then accuses Inder of cheating on her. Ruby throws a glass bottle on Saru but Inder saves her and gets injured. Saru stays at his place taking care of her. The building security guard then tells Saru's father about Saru having spent her night at Inder's. Outraged by this, Jayram then abandons Saru saying she is dead for her. Series of events happens and Saru and Inder are drifted apart. Later, Inder discovers that Saru has a brain tumour which is untreatable. Listening to this, Inder is left heartbroken. What will happen to the fate of Inder and Saru forms the rest of the plot!

Sanam Teri Kasam opened to mixed reviews and was declared an average grosser at the box office. The movie earned an estimated of 9 crores at the box office. However, the soundtrack of the film was a major hit.
