Sachin: A Billion Dreams a docu-drama based on the real life of Sachin Tendulkar, one of the greatest cricketers of all time. Directed by James Erskine, the biographical docudrama shows the important incidents in personal and professional life of Sachin Tendulkar. The film starts off with Sachin narrating his childhood days and how India's 1983 world cup win has inspired him to become a cricketer. He starts taking coaching from his Guru Achrekar and even shifts to his aunt's place which is near the training park. He rises to fame after the sensational 664-run partnership with Vinod Kambli. Then he is signed by Yorkshire.
The screenplay shifts back and forth from his present to important situations in his life. He joins the Indian Cricket team before 1992 world cup in which India failed miserably. In 1996, 1999, 2003 world cups, India made it to semi-finals but couldn't win the world cup. Sachin's father expired before 1999 world cup but still, he gave a commendable performance throughout the tournament. 2003 world cup won him the Man Of The Series Award but India lost the final match to Australia.
The incidents before the 2007 world cup and how Greg Chappell's decisions have affected India's performance were shown in a detailed manner. Finally, Sachin's dream came true when India won the world cup in 2011 and the nation dedicated it to Sachin for his efforts. Sachin: A Billion Dreams ends with Sachin's farewell speech after his last test match in which he scored 74 runs.
Sachin: A Billion Dreams was released on 26 May 2017 across the world in 5 languages, English, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu. The film received a positive response from the audience and reviewers. The film also won a few awards across the world.
