Rainbow Jelly Review & Rating
Soukarya Ghoshal has weaved a beautiful fairy tale in Rainbow Jelly. The tale has no fairyland or magical creature in it but a special child and his world establish a perfect urban fairytale in a city like Kolkata. Ghoton, an autistic child is at the center of the story. He has to leave the school after failing twice in class two. Now he lives with an unkind, rebuking uncle whom he calls Gandaria. There are a sweet girl Poppins and a loving tea seller in his universe. His day starts with his uncle's scolding, he spends his days in a dark kitchen cooking and goes out only for marketing where the kids bully him. His world changes when a woman comes in his life and introduces herself as Pori Pishi (fairy Godmother?) She asks Ghoton to cook seven foods of seven colors and tastes. A food fantasy? Rainbow Jelly is more than that.
The movie has a specially-abled protagonist but it's not about his limitations and struggles. Instead, it is the story of his world where he wins at the end. The film sees everyone and everything from Ghoton's perspective. Like Ghoton, his way seeing things are different too. In the role of Ghoton, Soukarya picked a special child Mahabrata, who breathed life in the character. Sreelekha's little over-the-top acting as Pori Pisi perfectly served the character's demand. Alok Maiti in the camera has perfectly captured the world of Ghoton. The way he captured Mahabrata's smile on the screen, is commendable.
Well, the film is not a flawless one. But, the magical content will make you forget them. It braves to go out-of-the-box and tell the story of those, who remain in oblivion. It's not only Ghoton or Mahabrata, the movie actually reminds us of all those children who can emerge as special on any given day.

What is to expect from Rainbow Jelly?
A sweet and soulful storyline
The trailer has promised a sweet, and touching story about a special child living in despair finding his way out from the misery in his imagination. It's an unusual story with a humane touch. A modern fairytale full of relatable emotional twists is highly expected.
With a stellar casting that includes actors like Kaushik Sen, Sreelekha Mitra, and Shantilal, an amazing performance is naturally expected. To complete the lineup, Mahabrata Basu, the child actor, who plays the lead has also shown huge potential.
Composed by Nabarun Bose, the music of the film has added a new dimension to the film. The songs are not only soothing but they are a perfect fit for the movie dealing with child fantasy. Hopefully, it will look great on the big screen as well.
