1971 Indo-Pak war is the backdrop of this movie. The film is about an Indian girl marrying a Pakistani Army officer to spy for her country. Sehmat Khan is a college student in Kashmir, whose father and grandfather, all were freedom fighters. To fulfil her dying father's wish, Sehmat gets married to a Pakistani army officer which is the final wish of her father. RAW, India's external intelligence agency trains Sehmat Khan with various skills to spy for her motherland, India. After settling down in Pakistan marrying Iqbal Syed, Sehmat gained trust and confidence of her husband and in-laws.
Sehmat starts passing off information to the Indian Army in morse code which she learned during her training. What kind of problems she faced while spying for India and What happened in Sehmats life When the Pakistanis found that she is an Indian spy is what the rest of the movie is about. The tension throughout the film is ramped up by the director which made this film a strong dramatic spy thriller. Based on Harinder Sikka’s book Calling Sehmat, this film is an account of the life of Indian agent Sehmat Khan.
Raazi won hearts all over. The film was declared as the fifth highest grossing film of 2018. Critics appreciated the efforts and intense screen acting of Alia Bhatt. Being made on a budget of 40 crores, Raazi earned 194.06 crores at the box office.
