Pathinettam Padi is one of those films which may seem regular/routine or could have been better sort of film. But the film which tells the story of two high school going kids, their attitudes, and the fight they fight because of the altitudes they see because of their attitude is a seriously good watch if you can wait till Megastar Mammootty enters the scene as Prof. John Abraham Palakkal in a heroic extended cameo.
Ashwin Vasudev and Ayyappan are two high school students who are from a private model school and government school respectively. It is their gang wars and how their school lives shaped them and the part played by John Abraham who comes from Stanford in this.
Ashwin is the head of a school named School of Joy. It has a different approach towards the process of education. When he gives an interview about the school, he goes back down the memory road where he recollects the eventful school days and this is where most of the action is set.Pathinettam Padi received generally mixed reviews with praise towards the young actors and the way the narration realistically captures the rivalry between the students from two schools which have polar opposite philosophy when it comes to teaching. While some praised the extended cameos of the top stars like Prithviraj Sukumaran, Arya, and then the Megastar himself, others called the same highlights as distraction. The movie was a commercial success and is a recommended watch.
