Parava Review & Rating|
Parava, the debut directorial of actor Soubin Shahir, opened to surprisingly great reception at the theatres. Although the movie had a good hype owing to Dulquer Salmaan's extended cameo role and was one of the anticipated releases of the season, the movie witnessed a warm welcome at the box office, which is unusual for a small release, especially, for a debut directorial venture. Set in Fort Kochi, 'Parava' narrates a story of friendship, linking past and present, set against the backdrop of pigeon race.
Soubin Shahir has done a good job; both in writing the movie in the most brilliant way possible and in beautifully executing it on screen. 'Parava' is indeed a promising debut with a whiff freshness in the story and craft. The brilliance of the movie lies in linking the subplots and subtexts of the story without losing the nuance of it. The first half of the movie so impressive that one wouldn't care for the few cliches which surface here and there in the second half.
Dulquer Salmaan appears in the movie for less than 30 minutes, yet 'Parava' is no less than a Dulquer Salman movie. Soubin has brilliantly sketched Dulquer character Imran, who plays a surprisingly crucial role in the story. With Imran, once again Dulquer Salmaan's proves that his screen presence and his effuse the charm is unmatchable.
The cast, including the two kids who are featured in the pivotal roles, Shane Nigam, Arjun Ashokan, Srinda, Zinil Sainudeen, and Jacob Gregory, has done their roles just perfect. But here again, the credits should also be given to Soubin and Muneer Ali, who crafted the characters right enough just as the story demands.
Final Verdict: A must watch! Grab your ticket without wasting further time.

What To Expect?
- Soubin Shahir brilliance
Soubin Shahir, for most of us, is an actor who would never fail to trigger a laughing spree. But he started off in the industry as an assistant director and has assisted directors like Sidique before he made his debut on screen. Isn't it something to look forward when a wannabe filmmaker has turned an actor before he donned the director hat for the first time? Yes, maybe. Experience, on all four quarters, counts.

Dulquer Salmaan is featured in a cameo role in the movie. Although he is only appearing in the movie for less than 30 minutes, he is assumed to have a very exciting role. And it is sure that there would enough DQ brilliance in the movie for the fans of the actor.

'Parava' features a host of young actors in the pivotal roles and its indeed something to watch out for.
- Music by Rex Vijayan
Rex Vijayan needs no introduction among the music lovers. The melodious 'Parava' songs composed by this 'Aviyal' guy has already struck a chord with the audience.
