The movie marks the directorial debut of comedian turned actor Ramesh Pisharody and is highly awaited by the cinephiles. The plot of the movie, as revealed by the makers, centers around the pet shop owner played by Jayaram. No one knows where he has come from; he lives in an abandoned house with all kinds of animals starting from macaws and dogs to a camel and elephant for a company. He has no family, no material possessions or any political preferences and while everyone around him desperately throws their life after money and power, he lives a peaceful life with his animals. Meanwhile, Kunchacko Boban, an aspiring politician from the same village lives who has strong rivals in the political field. This sums up the premise of this movie which doesn't really builds up a convincing story.
The movie comes with a strong and capable cast who got caught in the perils of the underdeveloped characters and the poor script. The lead actor Jayaram carries his role effectively. Although the movie features Jayaram in a refreshing avatar, the actor is clocked in a poorly-written character. Kunchacko Boban, another key actor, suffers the same plight. The case is same for the cast including the leading lady Anusree, Mallika Sukumaran, Dharmajan Bolghatty, and Salimkumar
Panchavarnathatha is the kind of the movie that fails the audience in fulfilling its own promises. And when it comes from Ramesh Pisharody, the comedian known for his quick wit and sense of humor, it turns out to be heavily disappointing. The film lacks a proper thread and goes haywire sooner that it begins and leaves the viewer in a confused state. Moreover, it rather fumbles into the level of a comedy skit and the only saving grace is Jayaram's moving performance at the parts.
Final Verdict: Definitely a disappointment to those who placed their bets on Ramesh Pisharody.
