Paisa Vasool Review & Rating|
When it comes to watching Puri Jagannadh's movies, the audience on a whole has already formed a template in their minds with a defined perception to watch the film. And his latest outing 'Paisa Vasool' is nothing out of that box. Though it is routine to watch the same stunts and his obsession with mafia, it is completely a Balayya show all through. His energy at this age of 57 is unmatchable and the comic characterization stands out in the film. This is the saving point for the film.
Getting into the movie, Theda Singh (played with ample amount of energy by Balakrishna) is a wanderer in Hyderabad night clubs and meets an IPS Officer (Kyra Dutt) who offers him a lucrative job. On the other side, Bob Marley (played by Vikramjeet Singh) has been creating havoc with cruelty everywhere. Sarika (played by Shreya Saran) is the journalist who goes to expose Bob but goes missing. Cut to - Theda Singh lands the job of a cab driver in Portugal. How does Theda Singh come into this scenario and who he actually is something you could guess, but for Balayya's outstanding energy levels, we leave it for you to watch.
Balakrishna walking out of his way and coming up with such a role to portray on the screen is laudable. But, it is Puri Jagannadh who failed to utilize the star to his capabilities. God knows when Puri would come out of his mafia hangovers. After a point, the movie is more or less predictable and that lets you down. Puri concentrated and put all his focus on Theda Singh's character but left the remaining portions of story telling. The music was good in parts and so were the production values.
Verdict : Now, keep apart the senses to watch some intriguing story. If you are looking to only get entertained with nothing but Balayya's new avatar as Theda Singh on screen, this movie can be given a shot. It's completely a Balayya's show!

Nandamuri Balakrishna – This name is enough to give goosebumps to millions of fans. Puri Jagannadh – On his day, this man has got hard-core fans in lakhs. A combination of these 2 people who have an immense mass fan following is expected to create wonders at the box-office. With the trailer becoming a huge hit, expectations on this flick are too high! Does it live up to the hype and expectations? Let’s see:
Plot and Story: The story had many twists, hence I am just revealing the basic plot. Nandamuri Balakrishna is introduced as ‘Theda Singh’ who is a carefree guy and who later is approached by the police to kill a don ‘Bob Marley.’ On the other hand, he makes friends with the gangs of ‘Bob Marley’. An interesting twist comes just before the interval. What is that twist? Is ‘Theda Singh’ his real name, etc., must be found out on the big screen.
Plus Points: Right from Scene one it is a one man show from Balakrishna. His energy levels, his attitude, and his dialogues everything is perfect and they once again tell he is not a superstar for no reason. His performance as ‘Theda Singh’ is one of the best we have seen from him in his entire career. Puri Jagannadh must be appreciated for bringing out an entirely different version of Balakrishna. He must have put in a lot of efforts to write dialogues for Balakrishna. Shriya Saran adds a lot of weight to the film with her terrific screen presence. It is a treat to watch her but sadly she has very limited screen time. Ali and Prithviraj did their part well.
Minus Points: A big thumbs down for Anup Rubens, except for the title track and ‘Mama EK Peg La’ none of the songs are worth listening even once. The biggest drawback of the film must be Anup’s music. The actress who played the ACP role and Shriya’s sister role is another drawbacks. It's high time that Puri must know that people stopped expecting white skinned girls as heroines who don't know basic acting. It is really irritating to see them on screen.
Verdict: Paisa Vasool justifies your ticket price, if you don’t have any expectations and want to watch an entertaining movie, go for it!
