Padayottam, starring BIju Menon in the lead role as Chenkal Raghu, is touted to be a gangster comedy directed by newbie Rafeeq Ibrahim. Pinku, a roadside romeo, gets beaten up badly by an unknown guy whose phone happens to be with Pinku. Pinku's friends vows to avenge for him and ropes in a fearsome gangster named Chenkal Raghu to accomplish the mission. All of them sets out from Trivandrum to Kasargode, the other end of the state, in search of a guy they have only seen in photos. Will their accomplish the mission and avenge the friend who is hospitalized with multiple injuries.
Biju Menon's Chenkal Raghu is sure to win anyone over right from his astounding intro which is backed by a massive background score. The actor delivers a spectacular and enjoyable performance as a virile and fearsome goon who is also a mama's boy. Director Basil Joseph as Pinku, Dileesh Pothen as Senen, Saiju Kurup as Sreekuttan and Sudhi Koppa as Renju also come up with equally impressive performances. The casting deserves an applause as much as the cast who pulls off their respective roles endearingly.
There is not even a moment in Padayottam which will bore the audience. The movie is as compelling and entertaining as a gangster comedy can ever be. There are impressive dialogues which would light off a laugh riot. The film also has the peculiar Thiruvanthoram humor at its best and it largely draws in from Trivandrum, Thrissur and Kochi dialects to create comedy.
Final Verdict: Padayottam is a feel-good film as much as it is a gangster comedy. Do not miss it.

Padayottam, directed by debutant Rafeeq Ibrahim, is a gangster comedy flick which features Biju Menon in the lead role. The film which is set in Trivandrum is about a local goon and his gang who takes up a quotation and travels to Kasargode with his gang to accomplish his mission. Apart from Biju Menon, Padayottam has Lijo Jose Pellissery, Dileesh Pothan, Ganapathi, Sreenath Bhasi, Anu Sithara, Saiju Kurup in the lead roles. Sophia Paul of the Weekend Blockbusters produces the film which has script by newcomers Ajai Rahul and Arun AR.
What To Expect From Padayottam?
Gangster comedies never fail to please the audience. It promises chills, thrills, laughs and what not. Padayottam is gangster flick and the main man of the film is a local thug named Chekkankal Raghu who is a fearful figure amongst other thugs as well. The movie is about a mission Raghu undertakes and the incidents that follow it. Biju Menon looks stunning in his Raghu avatar with a quite spectacular mustache and closely shaved head.
The presence of Dileesh Pothan, Lijo Jose Pellissery, Vinay Forrt, and Saiju Kurup in the cast is promising. The film also a bevy of new faces in the cast. Anu Sithara, the very talented actress who delivers refreshing and original performances with every role, plays the leading lady of Padayottam. The film also features youngsters like Ganapathi, and Sreenath Bhasi in notable roles.
Prasanth Pillai has composed the songs for the film while debutant Prasanth Raveendran has wielded the camera and Ratheesh Raj has done the edits. Even before the release, the satellite rights of Padayottam has been bagged by Surya TV and the Tamil remake rights of the film has been sold for a record price. The anticipation of the average audience is quite high on this one and if it really is the case, Chenkal Raghu and his boys will be ruling the box office from this weekend in Kerala.
