Paagal Review & Rating

All of a sudden, actor Vishwak Sen decided to release his film Paagal ahead of Independence Day. Within a few days, everything is planned and Paagal has hit the screens across all the theatres today. Here is the review of the same.

Story:

After losing his mother at a very young age, Prem starts hunting for a girl who can love him like his mom. As a part of his hunt, he proposes more than 1600 girls. But none of them accept his proposal. Dejected by the rejections, Prem attempts suicide. At that point. Teera (Nivetha Pethuraj) comes into the scene and proposes to him. Shockingly, she has engaged to someone else already. Who is Teera? How did she fall in love with Prem? How did their love story transform over the period? forms the rest of the story.

Performances:

Vishwak Sen pulled off the role very well. It looked like a tailor-made character for the young actor. He excelled in romantic, comedy, and emotional scenes. Nivetha Pethuraj enters very late and has nothing great to offer. But she manages to keep us hooked with her great screen presence. Simran Choudhary and Megha Lekha were wasted. Murali Sharma's role was routine. Rest other actors have performed within their limitations.

Technical Aspects:

Debutant director Naresh attempted to be in a safe zone by making a romantic comedy. However, poor writing and direction made the scenes falter miserably. None of the comedy or emotional sequences make the viewers connect to the film. Songs composed by Radhan are decent. Google Google is very catchy. The background score by Leon James is adequate. Manikandan's visuals look beautiful. Editing by Garry is not up to the mark. The production values are great though.

Verdict:

Paagal is a story that reminds us of numerous old Telugu movies. Neither the scenes nor the performances are great enough to pull audiences to the theatres. The first half goes on with comedy and love tracks. The main story starts at the interval point. When we hope that the second half would be better, the director tests our patience with a lethargic screenplay. On the whole, Paagal is a routine film that has nothing new or unique to offer.
