Oru Yamandan Premakadha Review:
This DQ Star Vehicle is a Clean Entertainer
After graduating from a star hero in Mollywood to a pan-India star in the last couple of years Kunjikka Dulquer Salmaan makes a grand return to Malayalam Cinema with Oru Yamandan Premakadha. The romantic comedy entertainer is one of the hotly anticipated films of the summer and releases hot on the heels of back to back blockbusters for Mollywood in the form of Lucifer and Madhura Raja. Let’s see if this film makes it three in a row with Oru Yamdan Premakadha Review.
Lallu is your ordinary youngster cut out of the same cloth our mass heroes are stitched. He enjoys with his friends, lives his life by his own rules, is a hit among the girls in the vicinity, and his family wants him to get married. He fights with elan and dances with aplomb. The reason he is particularly pestered by his family to get married is not because he is getting older or parents with prospective brides are running away from his presence. It is his own younger brother. Surprising?
Lallu’s younger brother is an IT professional made out of a different ilk from Lallu. He can get married only when the elder brother tied the knot with someone. But Lallu coupling find a girl who can strike a spark in him. He wants to marry not for the sake of it. He needs a soulmate. Nothing less. His father tasks his friends to find a suitable match for him. How all this turns out and if Lallu finds a girl with whom he can have right chemistry form the rest of the story.
Dulquer Salmaan is terrific in the role of a Katta boy and he charms the audience with his looks, and flamboyance. His screen presence is great as usual and has shown a lot more ease in dances and fights (requirements for a mass hero). The way he mouths one liners is sure to make his fans scream with delight.
The heroines Samyukta Menon and Nikhila Vimal don’t have bigger roles but within the limited screen time they did well. But it is Molly Kannammali, Soubin, Salim Kumar, Vishnu, and Pradeep Kottayam who run the show alongside DQ. The comedy is hilarious and the set pieces worked out well. Rest of the cast did okayish job.
Writing and direction
The story of the movie has nothing new to offer and the narration followed the set pattern of Bibin Unnikrishnan and Vishnu George’s previous films Amar Akbar Anthony and Kattappanayile... The runtime also turns out to be a bit longer than is necessary but Dulquer makes sure to keep the audience, especially his fans, interested in the proceedings. The direction by debutant Noufal is adequate. The screenplay turns out to be functional rather than innovative.
The music has a mix of delightful beats and smoothies and the background score is excellent. The cinematography is classy and has an earthy feel despite the mass orientation of the film. The editing is sharp. But if the runtime is shorted by 15 minutes, it’d have turned out to be an even more slick watch. The production design is terrific. The visuals are vibrant pertaining to the hero’s range and the nature of the story. The production values are grand.
All in all, Oru Yamandan Premakadha is a sort of film which helps Dulquer ease back into his native Cinema and serves the purpose with a clean but simple entertainment. You can watch it if you’re fed up with big time issue-based stories and heavy duty action films. If you keep the expectations low, you won’t be disappointed.
• Terrific support act
• Loads of entertainment
• Songs and fights
• Routine story
• Runtime should have been a bit lower
Pycker Rating (Bold): 3 out of 5

Oru Yamandan Premakadha- Audience's View
The much awaited movie of the Prince of Mollywood, Dulquer Salmaan, opened to terrific atmosphere from the theaters. Oru Yamandan Premakadha released today with much fanfare. The film has DQ in a never-seen-before avatar- that of a typical local boy.
The responses are quite mixed and people seemed to have expected much more considering that DQ is making a comeback into Malayalam after nearly two years. The first half was strictly average.
But Dulquer lends his full vigor in the 'watchable' first half.
The fans were a bit disappointed as they had pinned huge hopes on this third venture of successful scriptwriter duo- Bibin and Vishnu. But the plot did not lend much value to this DQ film.
The second half was okayish and the film's success depends on how well the family audience accepts this 'so-called' entertainer. But the film might click with the die-hard fans of the actor.
Considering that the film is giving mixed reactions, let us wait and watch the movie buff's response to the film. Stay tuned for reviews and ratings.

He is not just your star kid who banks on the legacy nor is one to have just passing acting skills. Their previous films Kattappanayile Rithwick Roshan and Amar Akbar Anthony are youthful and energetic. With a star hero like DQ, they can reach an even bigger audience. The promo materials hint at mass moments too.
