After a disappointing affair with 'Gunturodu', looks like Manchu Manoj is upping his game with this war drama, 'Okkadu Migiladu'. Ajay Andrew Nuthaki has directed this flick and we get to see Manoj as an LTTE officer. This is an honest attempt at telling the stories of refugees, their traumatic and pathetic conditions of the Tamilians during the Sri Lankan Civil War. Ajay and his team need to be appreciated for the painstaking efforts they put into showing us the rustic and raw feel of this intense war drama. As marketed that the movie is an 'untold story', it stays honest and true to its subject.
Surya (played by Manchu Manoj) is a Sri Lankan refugee and heads a student agitation after 3 campus students get raped. He is arrested on fake charges as the people involved in this incident belong to rich political leaders. During his custody, he tells the story of the 3 refugees, their struggle and the pathetic conditions during the Sri Lankan Civil war when they escaped from Sri Lanka to reach India. In a particular incident, the refugees get strangled on a boat in middle of the sea losing their way. The rest of story is how they get back to India with the help of Surya.
Manchu Manoj appears in an altogether new avatar. As Surya, he is decent, but as Captain Peter, he gets too loud losing the clarity in his diction. He definitely needs to lose weight if he wants to sustain. Aneesha Ambrose as TV reporter does a fair job. And the boat episode that comes in the second half stands out and has been termed as one of the major highlights of the movie. Though the narration goes a bit off track here and there, director Ajay has maintained a good momentum giving what the audience needs at the right time. Cinematography needs a special mention and the background score is in complete sync with the movie.
Verdict: Apart from a part of the narration that goes haywire at times, the movie is loud war action drama. It's a futile attempt to depict the ordeal of Srilankan refugees. If you this interests you, you can go ahead and watch it!

Yet another Pale and bad writing ruins the bravest attempt from Manchu Manoj, Okkadu Migiladu movie could have been a great path breaker, trendsetter, and a valuable experience if the screenplay was well written with reasonable emotions.
