Oh Baby tells the story of Savitri, a seventy-something lady who suddenly turns into a young girl in her early twenties. Savitri aka Baby is a cantankerous old lady and she lives with her family which consists of her son, daughter-in-law, and grandson. She loves her son very much but is always at odds with her daughter-in-law. Baby runs a canteen at the college where her son works as a professor in geriatrics. The canteen is co-owned and co-run by Baby’s childhood friend Chanti.
Baby had sacrificed so much in her life and brought up her son singlehandedly as her husband left the world when she was so young. All this made her overbearing and finally, this results in a big problem for her daughter-in-law who gets hospitalized. Baby leaves home and encounters a different looking man who is God and he converts her into a young girl of 24. Baby rechristens herself as Swati and tries to lead a new life and utilize the second chance.
She makes friends with a youngster named Vikram who slowly starts to fall for her and she joins the musical band of her grandson Rocky. She has an affinity towards music and this makes her happy. Meanwhile, Chanti misses his best friend and Baby’s son Nani searches for her. How and if Baby’s life turns out and if Chanti and Nani find that Swati is Baby and what happens to all form the rest of the story.
Oh Baby received mostly positive reviews and went on to become a super hit at the box office. Samantha, Lakshmi, Rajendra Prasad, and Rao Ramesh’s performances received high praise. The direction and writing (including) dialogues are lauded by one and all. Oh Baby was Pycker India’s Best Movie of the Week (1-6 July 2019).
