Mukhomukhi Review: Interesting but not thought provoking
The premise
Mukhomukhi directed by Kamaleswar Mukherjee is a low-budget film that deals with the human psyche. The film focuses on the questions we usuay don't feel comfortable asking ourselves.
Mukhomukhi story
In the film, a couple Gargee Roy Chowdhury and Rajatava Dutta write about a couple Saunak and Anusuya played by Jisshu Sengupta/ Saheb Bhattacharjee and Darshana Banik/ Payel Sarkar respectively. Saunak is a creative person. Anjan Dutta enters in the story to remind Saunak about the creativity of the tribal people to hurt his ego.
Direction and Acting
The film is clearly an experimental one and director has tried his best to make his idea vivid. However, he has and has not been successful in different places. To him, the plot was pretty clear, Mukherjee did have a vision but the execution fails in many ways. However, it is the actors who managed to carry the films in their shoulder. Jisshu, Payel and Anjan Dutt did a splendid job.
Finally
It won't be the wrong o say Mukhomukhi is a theatre in the disguise of a film. The theatre lovers will be happy to get the theatrical vibe from the film. As an experiment, the movie definitely needs some brainstorming. Don't go to the theatre to get entertained.
