Directed by Satrajit Sen, Michael is a Bengali drama film revolving around a person working man who dreams to be a filmmaker. Mir plays Michael, an aspiring filmmaker looking for a chance. He has left his ten to five job to fulfill his dream and his wife Shinjini (Swastika Mukherjee) is upset with him for taking a drastic decision. Mir gets a producer who roped him to direct a movie named Metamorphosis which is about a man with a desire to become a woman.

He signs his favorite actor Mayurbahan Chatterjee (Soumitra Chatterjee) for the lead role. However, he started to give him tough times on the set. He has to bear the king-sized tantrums of the alcoholic superstar. It captures the struggle of an aspiring film director and the difficulties he has to face in his journey without leaving the comic tone. The film stars Tonushree in the role of a producer who finances Michael's film to be an actress and Arunima Ghosh plays a police officer.
