Directed by Nandita Das, Manto is a biographical drama film based on the life of the author and playwright Saadat Hasan. The story will highlight the character’s attitude, courage, fear, his passion and much more. Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays the role of the author.
The movie also stars Tahir Raj Bhasin, Rasika Dugal, Rajshri Deshpande, Rishi Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Javed Akhtar, Ranvir Shorey, Ila Arun, Divya Dutta and Tillotama Shome in the supporting roles. Dugal plays the role of Manto's wife, Safia.
The poster of the movie was unveiled at 2017 Cannes Film Festival. The film has been bankrolled under the banners of HP Studios, Filmstoc, Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, and Nandita Das Initiatives. The movie has been made in Hindi and Urdu languages.
