Maheshinte Prathikaaram Story

Mahesh Bhavana, son of a small-time photographer named Vincent, runs his father's photography studio. One day, while trying to calm down an altercation which involved his friends Baby and Crispin, Mahesh gets beaten up by a man named Jimson Augustine. Humiliated and furious, Mahesh vows not to wear slippers until he avenges for the humiliation.
Mahesh finds out the details of Jimson and goes to a garage where he works only to find out Jimson has left for a job in Dubai. Mahesh decides to wait for his return and he signs up for a Kung Fu course. Meanwhile, a young girl Jimsy approaches Mahesh to send a photo to a popular women's magazine cover competition and Mahesh realizes that his skills are poor. He turns to his father for advice and studies the lighting and the angles from his father's old works.
Mahesh takes photos of Jimsy without her knowing and sends it to the magazine. The photo gets published and a surprised and happy Jimsy praises Mahesh for his excellent photo. Shortly, they fall in love with each other. Jimsy later reveals to him that she is Jimson's younger sister. Mahesh, however, decides to continue the relationship. Meanwhile, Jimsons comes back home. The very next day, Mahesh challenges Jimson to a fight and beats up him in a matter of minutes. Later, he visits Jimson at the hospital and asks for his sister's hand.
Maheshinte Prathikaaram marked the directorial debut of Dileesh Pothan. The movie won wide critical acclaim and was a commercial success. The film was awarded Best Original Screenplay and Best Feature Film in Malayalam at the 64th National Film Awards.
