Lavakusha Review & Rating

'Lavakusha' was one of the most anticipated films of the season as it has stellar casting and promising technical team. As the movie finally hit the screens, let's see whether it lives up to the hype or not. The movie starts off with the introduction of Lava (Neeraj Madhav) and Kusha (Aju Varghese) who land up in Chennai to start a casting company. A twist in the tale arises when they both accidentally help a police officer JK (Biju Menon) in solving a case. What happens next forms the crux of the story and it has interesting twists here and there.

Neeraj Madhav and Aju Varghese played their roles well complimenting each other and they will tickle your funny bones with their comedy. Though the scenes look cliched they make them worth watching with their screen presence and comedy timing. Biju Menon is a revelation as he was at his best and proved his mettle once again as an actor. He adds a new dimension to the otherwise regular popcorn comedy and brings in the much-needed freshness to the film.

Coming to the technical standards of the film, the film scores big. Gopi Sunder has done a fantastic job with the background score of the film, sadly his songs don't impress much. Prakash Velayudhan's cinematography is okay and editor John Kutty could've done a better job as few scenes can be trimmed off easily. Neeraj Madhav's story has a lot of scope but the execution part fails at times. Gireesh Mano did an okay job with his direction and he must have taken a little more care while etching out comedy scenes as they look cliched.
