Yeti Obhijaan Review & Rating|
Sunil Gangopadhyay's Pahar Churaye Aatonko (Horror At The Mountain Peak) is said to be the book behind Yeti Obhijaan. The director seems to have taken the original tittle a bit too seriously and made a horror story that tries too hard to be a film in the first place. With its slow pace, ridiculous inconsistencies, tacky sets and clumsy editing, the film falls flat despite its initial buzz and beautiful locations.

Yeti Obhijaan is the film adaptation of the Sunil Gangopadhyay's Kakababu adventure novel "Paharchuray Atonko". After Mishor Rohosyo, Srijit Mukherjee comes back with yet another Kakababu movie starring Prosenjit Chatterjee and Aryan as the mystery solving Uncle-nephew duo- Kakababu and Santu. The movie begins in 1930's Chinese Market, where a Britisher finds three large sized teeth and suspects this might result in finding a new species of animal. Then we see the same person at a 70's Harvard University Professor's Party, getting ridiculed of his proposition of existence of a large sized animal and while showing the teeth to prove his point, two of the them goes missing. Jump cut to current timeline, Kakababu and Santu are out in Nepal for an expedition to Everest. They eventually set up their base camp at a Iglu shaped dome and spends days just watching outside through a binocular. Sherpas get irritated and finally leaves kakakbabu and Santu behind when a suspected Yeti sighting happens. Santu finally realizes that the mission is for the Yeti actually, not just for the Everest trekking. What happens next? Let's not reveal the climax.
Prosenjit, Aryan and Jissu are brilliant in their respective roles. The make up and accent adopted for Nepal Army's Major Jung Bahadur Rana(Jissu Senguta) makes the charecter more realistic. Firdaus also looked well in the role of Trivuban Verma although the dubbing in the main role is should have been a common choice.Rupam Islam, Prosen and Arijit Singh sang the origial theme song of the movie which sets the mood of the movie throughout.
Great music direction, authentic end credits, the epower of storytelling and the shooting of the chase sequences are among the most favorite parts of the movie. This one deserves a 7.8 out of 10.
