Though the album of Kaala, in many ways, sounds like an extension of Kabali, the soundscape, instrumentation or the heavily-worded lyrics are fresh and impactful. One would be able to appreciate the album better with the story and the background in mind. Santhosh Narayanan has come up with an album that aptly suits the film. A dynamic album of social messages with mass and melody tracks.

The album starts with Yama Greattu, a powerful song that is fun-filled and easy-going which delightfully conveys the film’s whole concept. Chittamma, the second song of the album is a Romantic number that really stands-out of the entire album. The lyrics, tune, music and vocals of this number are a treat that gives a soothing feel to music lovers.

The third song of the album Raaye Naa Range Leela sounds just like a ollywoodT fun number. Nikkal Nikkal which comes as the fourth track is a commendable fusion-desi number. It gives a funky and addictive feel with its rap and fusion music and Hindi and Telugu lyrics. Poradathaam is yet another delightful number with some incredible music, rap and lyrics as the fifth track. The soul and the spirit of the lyrics are wonderfully conveyed by the singers.

Nele Maa Hakku comes as the sixth track of the album. An interesting one just like the rest of the tracks of the album. The seventh track Maa Veedhula is another impressive track from the album with some striking lyrics, beautiful vocals, Stunning tune, and great music composition. Onti Thala Raavana the last track of the album creates a powerful impact on the listener when Rajinikanth's dialogue "Kya re, Setting aa" comes.
