The story revolves around a visually impaired couple, Rohit Bhatnagar and Supriya Sharma. Rohit is voice-over artist while Supriya is also an independent working woman. Through friends, they meet each other and starts liking each other, and eventually gets married. They move into a neighbourhood and one night while coming to the home, Amit Shellar the brother of a local politician Madhavrao Shellar drunkenly misbehave with the couple. The very next day Amit and his men break into the house when Rohit is at work and rape his wife Supriya.
When the couple tried to report it to the police, Amit kidnaps them and thus police criticise the Rohan and Supriya of being liars. One day Rohan finds Supriya's body hanging from the ceiling fan. Rohan learns that Supriya had been raped twice by Amit which leads to Supriya committing suicide, leaving Rohit all alone. Rohit now takes it on to himself to get revenge as the police won't help him at all. The rest of the film is a smartly made tale of a blind man getting revenge for his wife using his skills as a voice actor and being brave in the face of danger. Kaabil received mixed to positive reviews. Few critics gave a positive response to the movie praising Hrithik Roshan's performances however, few critics called the movie monotonous and predictable. Made on a budget of 500 million, Kaabil grossed 1.76 billion at the box office.
