Jawaan Review & Rating|
After a few debacles, Sai Dharam Tej has teamed up with writer turned director BVS Ravi for Jawaan. The success of this film is very crucial for their careers and they've pinned their hopes on the film. Coming to the story, Jai is a happy-go-lucky guy who loves his family and the nation. He aims to get a job in Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and serve the nation. The story gets a drastic turn when Prasanna steals the most powerful missile of DRDO. How Jai manages to get it back while saving his family from the threat is the film all about.
Coming to performances, Sai Dharam Tej lived in the role of Jai and performs well in emotional scenes. He is now a matured and improved actor who can carry a film on his shoulders effortlessly. Mehreen is just okay and has nothing much to do performances wise. One actor who makes a strong impact is Prasanna who plays the baddie. His screen presence is terrific and he grabs the opportunity to perform a well written role with both the hands. Hema Chandra's dubbing made things easier for him. Senior actors Kota Srinivas Rao, Jayaprakash and Subbaraju performed well in their roles.
Cinematography by KV Guhan is good and he captures the outdoor locations and sets of songs beautifully. Brahma Kadali's art direction is okay. SR Shekar did an okay job with the editing as he could've edited out few romantic scenes to make things crisp. SS Thaman's music is okay but his background score deserves a special mention as it plays a crucial role in the film. He took many scenes to next level with his background score and once again proves why he is one of the best music directors in South India.
Coming to BVS Ravi, he has written an interesting plot but he chooses a commercial template to execute which is a letdown. He fumbles a little while executing the story as he gets confused to stick to the template or to give importance to the story. As a director, he does an okay job but he should have taken a little extra care in the second half as the movie becomes so predictable here. That being said, he does a great job as a writer he has written some beautiful dialogues about the nation and patriotism.
Verdict: Well-written and decently executed thriller.
Jawaan Critic Reviews
Jawaan User Reviews
Jawaan is one of the most awaited films of the year for me as I was pretty much interested to watch the new version of Sai Dharam Tej playing mind games with one of the best young actors, Prasanna. Though I can say I am decently satisfied with the film, I cannot recommend it to everyone wholeheartedly. Sai Dharam Tej has given his best to the film and he has improved a lot from his past films. Prasanna is a treat to watch and he has got terrific screen presence. Mehreen looks and performs okay in this film.
BVS Ravi does a decent job with the direction and Thaman has given superb songs and background score. If you like thrillers with enough twists and turns, Jawaan is a must watch film for you.

As the moring shows come to an end, Jawaan is getting positive response majorly for Thaman's work and BVS Ravi's interesting plot and narration. By the end of the day, Jawaan settled with decent to hit reports from the audience and critics. Going by the latest tweets the film is good with well-written screenplay but the weak climax spoiled the fun. But Thaman's music & background score with Sai Dharam Tej's performance make it a one-time watch film.
