Ittefaq Review & Rating
Directed by debutant Abhay Chopra, 'Ittefaq' is a remake of a 1969 film of the same name which was directed by Yash Chopra. The film stars Sonakshi Sinha, Sidharth Malhotra and Akshaye Khanna in the lead roles and is a story of two suspects (Sonakshi and Sidharth) who are interrogated by a police officer (Akshaye) who is trying to solve the case of two murders.
Sidharth Malhotra and Sonakshi Sinha don't really fit the movie but Sidharth manages to get better towards the end of the film. Both the actors seem a bit miscast and lack the intensity for a crime thriller. Akshaye Khanna on the other hand, is the best part of the film and deeply gets into the character of an intriguing police officer.
Abhay Chopra takes the main plot of the original story but he definitely makes it his own. The addition of new characters and the unique narration style will keep the audience on the edge of their seats through the second half of the film.
Verdict: 'Ittefaq' is a crime thriller that is intriguing and unique, but it is not meant for everyone. It has a slow pace and some incredible performances, especially by Akshaye Khanna.
