Vasudha is a single mother whose husband Hari has been missing for five years. Vasudha is been waiting for Hari since he left her. Vasudha works as a floral arranger in a hotel. There she meets Aarav Ruparel. One day during a mock fire drill, Vasudha saves Aarav. Impressed by her, Aarav offers Vasudha a job in his hotel in Dubai. Vasudha politely refuses the job offer. Police tell Vasudha that Hari is a member of a terrorist group and has been charged for murdering five American journalists. Vasudha gets worried about his son's future and later accepts the job offered by Aarav. 

Soon Aarav falls in love with Vasudha despite knowing about her past. Vasudha also falls back for him. Vasudha finds Hari back at home and confronts him about Aarav. An outraged Hari storms out and is then arrested and jailed. Vasudha feels that Hari is innocent and asks Aarav to save him. Vasudha also refuses to marry Aarav. Hari's motive is revealed as he deliberately accepted the crimes so that Vasudha will live in guilt. What follows next is a series of unfortunate and twisting events. Will Vasudha and Aarav ever unite?

Hamari Adhuri Kahani was an average success at the box office. The movie was made on a budget of 35 crores and collected 41.23 crores at the box office. The soulful songs of the film were quite popular and became major hit chartbusters.
